It seems like Mazda is ready to unleash its new BT-50 bakkie model in a week’s time from now.
According to an Instagram post by Mazda Australia, the new BT-50 bakkie will debut on the 17th of June this year.
“Something huge is coming. Tune in on 17 June, 11am AEST for the global launch of a once in a generation Mazda. Set your reminder now,” Mazda claimed on social media, posting a shadowy image of what appears to be a dual-cab bakkie.
It’s really hard for us to tell how the bakkie looks but speculations suggest that the new BT-50 will spawn design cues worn by other Mazda models such as the KODO design.
CarAdvice understands there will be no significant under-the-skin differences between the new Isuzu D-Max and the new Mazda BT-50.
Although Isuzu is yet to confirm local pricing and specifications for the D-Max, it’s likely both cars will be powered by an updated version of Isuzu’s trusty 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel, producing outputs of 140kW/450Nm, paired to either a six-speed manual or six-speed auto.
